Ok, so you’ve seen the hype about the Rhode Peptide Lip Treatment online and want to know if it’s actually worth the spend? Or maybe you’re totally new to Rhode and trying to figure out what to try first?
Either way, you’re in the right place.
I’ve tested a few Rhode products over the past couple of years – the Pocket Blush, the Glazing Milk, the Lip Tint, the Lip Shape – and haven’t been disappointed yet. Psst, check out my reviews of each to see my full thoughts!
But, of course, there’s always going to be hits and misses – so let’s see which category the Lip Treatment falls into.
What is the Rhode Peptide Lip Treatment?
Rhode’s Peptide Lip Treatment is a high-shine lip balm that almost tips into lip gloss territory. It provides deep nourishment, as well as a juicy, ‘glazed’ finish, fighting off dryness in a couple of swipes.
So, what makes it different from Rhode’s Peptide Lip Tint?
Think of it as a complete flip. While the Lip Tint is tinted and unscented, the Lip Treatment is colourless and fragranced (well, apart from the Unscented version, of course!).
Shades & flavours
Yes, you might be surprised to discover that all versions of the Rhode Peptide Lip Treatment are untinted!
Despite the names (you’re telling me that Strawberry Glaze is actually clear!), there’s not a hint of colour to be found here.
You pick by scent, rather than shade, so it can be a little confusing – especially when the packaging all looks really similar!
There are five core scents, but occasionally limited edition versions will drop too. The core collection consists of:
- Strawberry Glaze 🍓
- Rhode Vanilla 🍨
- Salted Caramel 🍮
- Unscented 💧
- Watermelon Slice 🍉
I’ve got Salted Caramel which honestly smells incredible – I’d keep buying it just for the scent alone! It’s sweet but not overly so, and truly gives off salted caramel latte vibes.
Key ingredients
- Shea Butter – A fatty-acid rich emollient that intensely moisturises the skin and has anti-inflammatory properties.
- Palmitoyl Tripeptide-1 – A peptide compound that plumps and smooths skin.
- Babassu Oil – A plant oil that’s rich in Lauric Acid. Lauric Acid fights acne-causing bacteria and soothes the skin.
- Cupuaçu Butter – An emollient that calms dry, sensitive skin and locks in moisture.
- Lactic Acid – An AHA that both exfoliates and moisturises the skin.
Packaging & application
This Rhode Lip Treatment comes in the same squeezable plastic tube as the brand’s Peptide Lip Tint. An easy way to distinguish them, though, is that the Lip Treatments are all grey, while the Tints come in varied colours which reflect the shade of the actual gloss inside.
The applicator is small and firm, which sets it apart from the large, cushiony tips that have been all the rage lately. I’m looking at you Laneige Glaze Craze 👀🍩
This allows for neat, even application and means that you don’t end up with excess product splurging out the sides. It’s one of my favourite things about this design!

Formula, finish & texture
If you’re used to solid lip balm sticks, a squeezable formula like this is definitely going to feel thicker and more occlusive. This properly coats the lips like a lip gloss does – just with the added hydration element.
That said, Rhode’s Peptide Lip Treatment never feels heavy, greasy or waxy. There’s no stickiness or gloopiness when you open or close your mouth. It’s very comfortable to wear.
To me, this very much feels like a light lip mask, which is probably why I reach for it quite often as an overnight lip treatment. It’s got that richness that keeps your lips feeling soft and hydrated until the morning.
It really does shine (quite literally!) as an on-the-go lip product too though. I love this for those moments when you’re out and about and you feel your lips becoming increasingly dull and dry.
A swipe or two of this treatment and your lips will immediately look plumper and healthier.
Wear test: How long does it last?
For such a light formula (I mean ‘light’ compared to something like Glossier’s Balm Dotcom), Rhode’s Peptide Lip Treatment has surprising longevity.
You only need a thin layer, and this will last for a good number of hours. If I apply it as an overnight lip mask, I can still feel it on my lips in the morning – always a good indicator of staying power for me.
Obviously, if you’re eating or drinking some of the product will wear off and might need a top up. But the wear time is pretty impressive otherwise.
If you’re on the go and looking for a lip balm that will see you through most of the day, I wouldn’t hesitate to reach for this one.

Where to buy the Rhode Peptide Lip Treatment
You can order this lip treatment directly from the Rhode website. The brand currently ships to the US, UK, Australia, Canada, New Zealand, and select European countries.
You can also grab this from Sephora, if you’re looking to do a wider beauty shop.
Why you’ll love it (and why you might not)
pros
- Incredible scents which don’t taste overly artificial
- Longlasting hydration
- Vegan and cruelty-free
cons
- Sweet scents may not be to everyone’s taste
- A little pricey for a colourless lip balm
Final Verdict: Is the Rhode Peptide Lip Treatment worth buying?
Of all the Rhode products I added to my basket in my initial haul, this is the one I was most lukewarm about. It’s not often that I get really excited over a lip balm.
But I actually really, really like this product. It’s incredibly moisturising, it feels really comfortable on the lips, and it lasts a pretty long time too.
What really makes Rhode’s Peptide Lip Treatment for me, though, is the scent. The Salted Caramel flavour is just so good – it feels like a fun lip gloss scent you’d have when you were younger.
All the nostalgia, but this time with a slightly elevated formula, it’s a winner in my books!
Tbh the more I’m writing about this, the more I’m convincing myself that I need another scent!
