Longer days and bluer skies means spring is finally here. You might be in the process of switching out your winter wardrobe and deciding which nail trends to follow, but wait … there’s something we need to do first: pick out our signature spring scent.
Fresh, floral fragrances instantly evoke those spring/summer vibes, so what better way to add a little bit of joy into our lives.
I’ve compiled a list of the six perfumes and body sprays that I believe are perfect for the springtime – hopefully you love them as much as I do!
P.S. Since there’s no way for you to physically smell them, I’ve included the key notes to at least give you some idea of what they’re like. Happy reading!
Marc Jacobs Daisy Dream
Key notes: Blue wisteria, blackberry and white woods.
This is my go-to everyday spring scent … in fact, this is probably my go-to fragrance no matter the season. I love it because it’s sweet without being overpowering, and it smells so fresh.
The fruity notes are very subtle. Tbh it’s hard to distinguish the individual elements, but it all comes together to create such a lovely, delicate fragrance.
My only criticism is the staying power. I’d like it if the scent lasted a little longer, as it does tend to wear off pretty quickly. However, given that it takes me quite a while to work through a bottle, it’s not too much of an inconvenience to reapply.
I haven’t tried the new Daisy Spring one yet, but that’s definitely next on my list.
Prada Candy Florale
Key notes: Limoncello, peony, musk, honey, caramel, and benzoin.
I’m already a fan of the original Prada Candy Eau De Parfum so I had a feeling I was going to like this one. The two are very similar, the Florale version is just distinctly more floral smelling (duh) – which I actually kind of prefer.
The thing I love about Prada perfumes is that they last soooo long. I can smell it on myself all day which, for me, is the number one sign of a good scent.
In line with the ‘candy’ name, this is quite a sweet fragrance. However, when used sparingly, I don’t find that it’s too much. One spray goes a long way so I’d definitely suggest applying this with a light hand.
Ted Baker Floral Bliss Body Spray
Key notes: Green apple, water lily and sandalwood.
If perfumes aren’t really your thing, body sprays are a great alternative. I tend to use a mix of both; perfumes when I’m at home, and body sprays when I’m out and about. Due to the way they’re packaged, I just find sprays a little easier to carry in my bag.
The Ted Baker Floral Bliss spray is so amazing, if they made this as a perfume I’d be the first one to buy it. It’s really light and crisp which works perfectly for the spring/summer months. I also love that the apple notes are quite clear, but not in a sickly sweet way. Upon application it might smell a little strong, however, this generally tends to subside after a minute or two.
A body spray is a must for spring and the Floral Bliss one is my top choice. It’s the perfect scent to carry around with you for a daytime freshen up.
DKNY Be Delicious Fresh Blossom
Key notes: Grapefruit, apricot, apple, jasmine, rose and blonde woods.
This is definitely a throwback scent for me – I used to wear it all the time when I was in school. That’s not to say it’s outdated, I’m convinced it’s one of those floral fragrances that never goes out of style.
DKNY Be Delicious is a probably the OG spring/summer eau de parfum. I love that one too, I just find the Fresh Blossom variant a little less loud and a bit more suited to my personal tastes. I tend to go for soft, citrusy scents so this one fits me to a tee.
Viktor&Rolf Flowerbomb
Key notes: Tea, bergamot, freesia, Sambac jasmine, amber and patchouli.
As far as floral fragrances go, Viktor&Rolf have nailed it with Flowerbomb. This is a recent discovery for me and I have to say it took me by surprise. I hadn’t heard much about Viktor&Rolf before so I wasn’t sure what to expect, but – after trying it – I can feel this becoming one of my favourites.
Like Daisy Dream, this is sweet yet subtle, making it extremely wearable on a day-to-day basis. It’s a little pricier than some of the other fragrances on this list but I think it’s definitely worth the money. I got so many compliments wearing this that it might just knock my trusty Marc Jacobs perfume off the top spot.
The Body Shop White Musk Flora
Key notes: Bergamot, pink pepper, peonies and lily of the valley.
If the The Body Shop White Musk is a little too earthy for you, why not try the Flora version instead? It still contains the signature muskiness of the original, but with the added floral notes of bergamot, peonies and lilies.
The selling point of this perfume is that it’s 100% vegan since the musk is completely cruelty-free. So don’t be afraid to try this one out, it smells great and it’s ingredients are sourced consciously!
