AD info | These products were sent to me by Vegamour. This post is not sponsored and all opinions are my own.
Sephora’s UK launch earlier this year introduced us to a whole host of exclusive beauty brands that had previously been unavailable (or at least very hard to get hold of!) outside the US. One of these being holistic hair wellness brand, Vegamour.
Vegamour’s GRO collection immediately went onto my beauty wish list, so imagine my excitement when the brand itself sent over some of these products for me to try. I’ve been on an endless search to find haircare products that make my hair feel fuller, thicker and healthier and Vegamour’s GRO line had me feeling very hopeful!
Did the GRO collection deliver the results I’d hoped? Keep reading to find out!

Vegamour GRO review:
Vegamour GRO Hair Serum
Believe it or not, this is actually my first foray into hair growth serums. Though my hair is naturally fine, I never really noticed much thinning around my hairline – which is why, after 90 days of using the Vegamour GRO Hair Serum, I was surprised to see loads of baby hairs coming in. My hair is usually quite stubborn, and it grows pretty slowly, so I wasn’t expecting to see results for quite a while! I can’t definitively say that it’s made my hair thicker, but the new hair growth at the front has definitely made it look more full and dense.
In terms of usage, my advice – especially if you have fine hair – is to apply this when your hair is slightly damp. I started off trying to apply this to dry hair and it though this didn’t necessarily make my hair look greasy, it did cause some separation and tackiness. The serum has a watery consistency (I thought it would be more like an oil), so it’s fine to apply straight after washing.
Overall, the biggest drawback of this hair growth serum is the price. Each bottle contains enough product to last one month, which means that you’ll need at least three of these to complete the recommended 90 days (by which time you should start seeing visible results). And, obviously, to maintain those results you’ll need to continue using it on a regular basis. It is a pretty big commitment, but I like that Vegamour offers a Subscribe & Save option which does reduce the price a little.
Vegamour GRO Scalp Detoxifying Serum
The Vegamour GRO Scalp Detoxifying Serum is a weekly treatment that’s designed to clarify scalp buildup, soothe dry skin and lock in moisture. It contains nourishing ingredients, like Soybean Seed Extract, Marula Oil and Baobab Seed Oil, which are rich in antioxidants. You’ll also find Zinc PCA in here, which not only combats excess oil but helps to reduce inflammation.
If you’re someone who suffers with flakiness or dryness, this is a great way to give your scalp a quick moisture boost and fend off potentially irritating environmental pollutants. What I really like about this product is how easy it is to incorporate it into your usual hair care routine. Simply section your hair, apply the detoxifying serum and gently massage it into your scalp for about 1 to 2 minutes. Leave in for a further 5 to 10 minutes, rinse out in the shower and then go in with shampoo and conditioner (ideally the Vegamour set from the same GRO line).
My scalp isn’t overly dry, so I can’t speak for people who experience extreme dandruff, but this does leave my scalp feeling fresher. And my hair (at the root) seems to be less weighed down since using it, so it does appear that this eliminates product buildup. Overall, it just makes my scalp feel clean and healthy. It’s a really gentle way to detox if you’re not keen on scalp scrubs or physical exfoliants.
Vegamour GRO Revitalizing Shampoo
I often wonder how much a shampoo and conditioner can do for my hair, but a couple of bad hair wash experiences have made me realise that good products really do make a difference! I’m pretty careful with the ingredients I use. So, when I saw how impressive the ingredients list for the shampoo and conditioner was, I knew I had to give them a go.
They’re formulated with Karmatin, a first-of-its-kind vegan silk keratin that bonds to the hair follicle, meaning it stays attached even after the product is rinsed out. Karmatin sort of acts as a substitute to silicone, leaving your hair looking shiny and glossy but without stopping moisture from reaching the strands.
If you like fruity scents, you’re going to love the shampoo. To me, it smells a lot like the Strawberry Shower Gel from The Body Shop – it’s sweet, summery and really fresh. This has a thick(ish) gel texture which quickly lathers into a white foam. I love a product that lathers well so I was excited to use it from the get-go. This makes my hair feel clean, but not stripped, and since it lathers so well you only really need to use a little bit with each wash.
According to the Vegamour website, their revitalizing shampoo is supposed to ‘promote thicker, fuller and longer-looking hair’. My hair is pretty fine and I haven’t found many products that help give it body. While I wouldn’t say this shampoo has necessarily made my hair thicker, it has definitely made it look and feel a whole lot healthier. The roots seem to get greasy less often and the ends are much smoother than they usually are. I frequently balayage my hair which sadly makes it prone to split ends – this shampoo has helped keep those scraggly bits at bay!
Vegamour GRO Revitalizing Conditioner
Like the shampoo, the revitalizing conditioner is designed to nourish damaged hair, bringing back its shine and moisture. The conditioner isn’t quite as scented as the shampoo, but it works just as well. It’s thick and creamy so it coats the hair nicely. As instructed, I massage it into my hair in its entirety (including the scalp!) and leave it for a few minutes to allow the phyto actives to absorb.
I NEVER put conditioner near my scalp – putting heavy products on fine hair is usually a recipe for disaster. But this washes out well and doesn’t leave any residue or greasiness at the roots. As with the shampoo, I also feel that this has made a big improvement to the ends of my hair – the strands feel super smooth and soft after each wash.
Vegamour GRO review: Do these products really work?
I can’t deny that these products have made a huge difference to the quality of my hair. The shampoo and conditioner, in particular, leave my hair feeling really soft and silky. Quite the feat when you’ve spent years bleaching it!
However, it’s hard to tell whether any hair growth that I’ve experienced since using these products is directly because of the ingredients in the Vegamour GRO line, or just because I’ve been taking better care of my hair in general. Is it the GRO serum that’s encouraging hair growth or is it simply the act of massaging the serum into the scalp? That kind of thing.
I do think the Vegamour GRO line is worth a try if you want to treat yourself, and if you’ve got bleached or coloured hair the GRO products are going to help boost hair health, but it’s hard to justify using them daily – just because of the cost. If these were a little cheaper, I’d certainly be stocking up on them!
Where can I get the Vegamour GRO line?
