Revision is boring at the best of times, but when your stationery is grey and plain it can feel even more of a chore.
I’m 100% convinced that the better your notes look, the better you retain the info. That’s why I feel it’s so important to enjoy the studying process and create notes that you’ll actually want to go back and read from.
Whether you’re looking for school supplies or a few bits and bobs to help you study at home, I’ve got you covered.
Keep reading to find out which stationery essentials keep me feeling motivated and inspired …
1. Spiral Notebook
I find that wire-bound notebooks are the best for studying as it’s really easy to rip out a page if need be.
My all time fave is the Miquelrius A4 Spiral Notebook because it’s so sturdy and the pages are super opaque. The polypropylene cover offers amazing protection and the punched holes make filing a breeze.
I can’t say enough good things about it, seriously, it’s the best!
I’m also a massive fan of Papier’s notebooks. They use sustainably-sourced paper and all their products are made to order meaning waste and carbon emissions are kept to a minimum.
2. Revision Cards
For intense revision, flashcards are a must.
I like to use record cards, like these, to jot down any information that I need to memorise, so that I can flip through them whenever I need to.
It’s also an excellent format for condensing content into sizeable chunks. Doing it this way makes it feel much less overwhelming than staring at text-dense pages of your notebook.
For something a little more compact, this spiral bound option from WHSmith is the perfect size … and the colour selection is impeccable.
3. Fineliners
The STABILO Point 88 Fineliners are an absolute dream to write with. They just make everything look so neat and pretty.
I normally use them for headings or underlining important info, as I prefer writing the bulk in Biro. That doesn’t mean you can’t fill your page with colourful, handwritten text though!
Fineliners are definitely a pencil case staple and I highly recommend investing in some. They make note-taking waaaay more fun.
4. Pastel Highlighters
How gorgeous are these STABILO BOSS Swing Cool Pastel Highlighters!
If I’m being honest, I don’t really need any more highlighters. I have a tonne at home that work perfectly well. But, I saw these and I just had to buy them.
I’m in love with the shade range and, actually, the pastel tones make it way easier to see what’s written underneath. I often find that some highlighters are a tad too opaque and unfortunately this obscures the text.
I don’t have that issue with these at all!
5. Sticky Tabs
I don’t think I could have gotten through my degree without these – they’re a lifesaver. If you have studied, or are studying, at university you’ll know what I mean, the reading load is intense.
Sticky tabs help you mark important quotes in books or even essential info in your own notes.
No one wants to be folding the corners of their pages, these tabs look way better!
I prefer the transparent type, just because they don’t block the text. However, the more opaque, paper-like note markers are slightly easier to write on.
6. Geometric Paper Clips
Paperclips are a stationery essential. Where would we be without them?
These are super nifty for holding papers together, or – my personal favourite – for substituting your bookmark. They’re much more versatile than you would think!
My top pick is this Gold Triangle pack from Ohh Deer. The clips are so well made and they don’t bend out of shape at all.
I also love these rose gold water droplet paper clips – they’re super unique.
7. Washi Tape
You might think washi tape is used solely for aesthetic purposes … and to some extent it is. But it can actually come in really handy when organising your notes.
I like to use it for titles and headings. It just makes them stand out a bit more.
Plain tapes, like this rose gold one, usually work best for this. Although I am a sucker for cute little designs too. I mean, how adorable is this Squiggle Tape!
8. Planner
If, like me, you’re someone who has trouble staying organised, a planner/diary is a godsend. I find that it helps me keep track of things I need to do and any deadlines that I have coming up, which means that I’m not just relying on my (terrible) memory.
Busy B diaries are great for students because they have little timetables for you to fill out, and handy pockets to store tickets, receipts etc.
The Papier personalised planners are also amazing since they include space for you to track your habits and meal plan.
What are your stationery must-haves? I’m always looking to expand my collection so I would love recommendations!
