Boots has always been my go-to for makeup and body care bits, but I often felt it was kind of lacking on the skincare front. They’d stock your classic drugstore brands like Simple and Neutrogena. However, there wasn’t really much outside of that realm. I’ve noticed recently though that Boots has started to expand its skincare collection and offer products that we have been dying to see on the shelves.
So, as a bit of a Boots appreciation post, here are 9 must-try skincare products that I think are worthy of picking up the next time you go shopping…
COSRX Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence £23.99
This is a holy grail skincare product for me – I literally recommend it to everyone. I won’t go on about it too much because I’ve already written a whole review covering my thoughts and opinions (which you can read here). But I will say that this is the product that convinced me that essences are actually a necessary skip in my skincare routine. My skin has never felt as soft and hydrated as it does when I’m using this!
Dr. Jart+ Ceramidin Skin Barrier Moisturising Cream £38
I love this as a light barrier repair cream. In fact, this is probably one of the only skin barrier repair products that I could actually wear during the day. It’s thick enough that it leaves your skin feeling soothed and moisturised, but not so thick that it’s overly sticky or greasy. The smell isn’t for everyone – it’s pretty herbal – but I actually don’t mind it too much!
They also do a smaller size (15ml) for £15 which I think is a pretty good deal! This way you can try it out before committing to the full-size cream.
Versed Press Restart Gentle Retinol Serum £20
If you’re looking for a beginner retinol product, this serum is amazing. It contains encapsulated retinol and natural retinol alternatives (like bakuchiol) which give you all the benefits of a traditional retinol, but without the irritation. You’ll also find hydrating ingredients like sunflower seed oil, shea butter and sodium hyaluronate in here, so you know that this isn’t going to completely strip your skin of all moisture.
CeraVe Moisturising Cream £12.80
Again, I don’t need to say much about this cream because I mention it alllll the time. But it is seriously good! This is one of the few moisturisers that actually feels like it’s hydrating deep into your skin and not just providing surface moisture.
Glow Hub Nourish & Hydrate Serum Mist £12.00
Mists have been a fairly new addition to my skincare routine, but I am loving them atm. This Glow Hub one is enriched with hyaluronic acid, peach extract and coconut to keep your skin looking dewy and fresh all day long. You can use it to refresh your makeup or to provide an extra boost of hydration before you go to bed. It’s really versatile!!
Pixi Glow Tonic £18
If you’re looking for a gentle AHA toner, this is the one! I think the Glow Tonic was my first proper introduction to chemical exfoliants and I haven’t looked back since. It contains ginseng and aloe vera which brighten and soothe the skin. And of course, we can’t forget the star of the show, glycolic acid, which accelerates cell renewal and minimises large pores.
The Ordinary AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution £6.30
This peeling solution might seem scary at first, but it’s actually really simple to use. And, once you do start using it, you’ll wonder how you ever went without it! I’ve included this in my post The Best The Ordinary Products For Clearing Acne Scars, however, this isn’t the only thing it’s good for. I find this solution to be really effective at getting rid of blackheads around my T-zone and just generally smoothing out the texture of my skin.
Skin Proud Sorbet Skin Everyday Jelly Moisturiser £9.30
The CeraVe Moisturising Cream is pretty thick. So, if your skin is on more on the oily, acne-prone side, this Skin Proud Jelly Moisturiser would likely be a better option. It contains four different forms of sodium hyaluronate (to draw moisture into the skin), plus rose water has natural sebum reducing properties so this is killing it on both fronts.
La Roche-Posay Cicaplast Soothing Face and Body Balm B5 £10.50
This balm is another holy grail. Whenever my skin gets really dry and I need something to instantly soothe it and take away the discomfort, I turn to this. It kind of reminds me of Savlon – the consistency is very similar. But this definitely sinks in a lot better and it doesn’t feel as heavy on the skin. This balm helps calm redness and gets rid of any flakiness you might be experiencing, it’s honestly a godsend!
Which Boots skincare products are your faves? Have you tried any of these?
