PR | The product featured in this review was kindly sent to me by Stylevana. All thoughts and opinions, however, are completely my own.
Make P:rem is a brand I’ve been eyeing up for a long time. I love the minimal packaging, and I think it’s great that their products are aimed at soothing and caring for the skin rather than bombarding it with stripping active ingredients. Their focus is towards low irritation skincare and, as someone with reactive skin, I really appreciate this!
The team at Stylevana were lovely enough to send me the Make P:rem Comfort Me Panthenol Moisture Essence (along with a few other goodies) to try out and review. Stylevana is an online retailer that offers an extremely wide selection of Asian fashion and beauty products, so if you’re interested in K or J-beauty products be sure to check it out! With all that said, let’s jump into the review…
What is it?
The Make P:rem Comfort Me Panthenol Moisture Essence is a concentrated essence that is formulated with Niosome Panthenol, a substance that strengthens the skin barrier while also providing long-lasting hydration.
It’s very slightly acidic, with a pH of 5.5, meaning it causes very little disruption to the skin’s natural function.
What are the standout ingredients?
Panthenol – A provitamin of vitamin B5. It boosts hydration, attracts moisture and soothes irritated skin.
Ceramide NP – One of the nine types of ceramide produced by the skin. It helps to improve skin barrier function and prevent dehydration.
Madecassoside – One of the bioactive compounds in Centella Asiatica (Cica). It protects against free radicals and reduces inflammation.
Anthemis Nobilis Flower Extract (Chamomile) – A herb that soothes the skin and reduces inflammation. Great for sensitive skin types.
Cetearyl Olivate – An emulsifier that also has skin-soothing and regenerative properties.
Check out the full ingredients list at Incidecoder to find out exactly what each one does. Also, keep in mind that this contains Ethylhexyl Palmitate which has a comedogenic rating of 2-4. If you’re someone who has acne-prone skin then this could be a potential irritant.
How I use this product
After cleansing and toning, I squeeze a pea-sized amount of this onto my fingers and dot it around my face. I’ll then gently massage it in, making sure to add a little extra to the areas in which I experience dryness.
The scent
This essence is unscented and contains no artificial fragrance making it great for sensitive skin types.
The texture and finish
I absolutely love the texture of this product. I’d say it is a little thicker than some other essences I’ve tried … almost lotion-like. But it blends into the skin really nicely and it doesn’t feel heavy on. It looks kind of milky when first dispensed, however, the colour quickly disappears when it’s rubbed in.
The finish it leaves is also stunning. This essence seriously gives you a glass skin look that makes your face appear super glowy and healthy. No other essence I’ve tried has made my skin look as good!
The packaging
This product comes in a matte white bottle with a pastel blue screw top lid. I like the simplicity, although I think the writing on the front of the bottle is a little repetitive. Make P:rem definitely could have done more with the space.
I also really like that there’s a printed box on the back of the bottle where you can make a note of the date you opened the product. I think it’s really useful to help you keep track of expiry dates and it’s something I haven’t seen on other skincare products before.
Notes on sustainability
Ethical: This product is described as being vegan and cruelty-free. However, Make P:rem is sold in China (where animal testing is required by law) so I’m not 100% sure about the cruelty-free label.
Environmental: I can’t really find anything regarding Make P:rem’s approach to environmental sustainability online. The writing on the cardboard box that the product comes in is printed with soy ink though so that’s a good sign! Looking at the actual product, the cap is made from polypropylene (PP) and the bottle from low-density polyethylene (LDPE) – both of which are widely recycled.
Overall thoughts
I’m struggling to put into words how much I love this essence! The COSRX Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence (review here) has been my go-to for a little while, but I actually think I might like this one better *gasp*!
My skin gets dehydrated easily and I’ve only found a couple of essences that are both soothing and moisturising enough to deal with it. This is one of them!
I was kind of worried when I first squeezed it out of the bottle that it would be too thick. But I found that the consistency became a lot lighter when I rubbed it in, and it leaves a really gorgeous, glossy finish on the skin.
Because it is so hydrating, this might not be suited to oily skin types. However, if you’re someone who suffers with dry or irritated skin, I cannot recommend this essence enough!
Where can I buy it?
You can get this product from Stylevana or YesStyle.

How long have you been using this serum? Did it break you out? I noticed the 3rd ingredient is Ethylhexyl Palmitate which is really comedogenic. It seems you have normal to dry skin type? I seemed to break out from fatty alcohol such as cetearyl alcohol so yeh just wondering…

Hi Connie, I’ve been using this for just over a year now and haven’t noticed any breakouts specifically related to this essence. My skin is sensitive but also acne prone so it’s hard to find products that moisturise it without clogging it! I think maybe I haven’t noticed any breakouts because I don’t tend to use it everyday, just when my skin feels really dry and like it needs an immediate burst of moisture. If your skin tends to break out from fatty alcohols I would probably avoid this essence and go for something like the COSRX Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence. Thanks for highlighting this – it’s definitely something that should be added to this review!

Thank you for replying! Is yours sealed when you got it? Mine has no seal on box or bottle itself…
Ellen says
No problem! I can’t really remember I’m afraid, but I don’t think the box or bottle were sealed when I got them 🤔
