Time-saving makeup hacks have been floating around the internet for quite a while. But in the era of TikTok, I feel like it’s easier than ever to find tips and tricks that will simplify your makeup routine and save you precious time.
Influencers, like missmonolids, have really changed the game and shown just how easy it is to build up a #lazygirlapproved makeup collection. Choosing the right products makes all the difference!
Of course, it’s great to be able to take your time doing your makeup, but on rushed weekday mornings a lengthy routine doesn’t always work.
That’s why – inspired by this lazy girl makeup trend – I’ve recently been leaning towards buying simple, easy-to-use makeup products that require minimal effort to apply.
Not only that, these kind of 5-minute makeup products often require fewer tools and fewer steps too! Forget using three different brushes to apply your eyeshadow, what if a shadow stick and your fingertips could do the job in seconds?
Not sure where to start? Here are eight lazy girl makeup products that I use and recommend in order to make getting ready in the morning that much quicker.
Tower 28 BeachPlease Luminous Tinted Balm
This multi-purpose product is a godsend on those mornings when you’re rushing around to get out of the house – it’s super quick to apply!
Use your fingertips to warm the balm, then tap it generously onto your lips, cheeks, eyelids… basically anywhere you want to add a pop of colour. Honestly, I don’t really recommend using a brush to apply this as it kind of gets stuck in the bristles, it’s best just to use your hands or even a sponge if you prefer.
What’s nice about this product is that you don’t need to be precise when applying it, it blends really well so you can easily fix mistakes at any point. Plus, it’s both dewy and pigmented so it gives a noticeable, but natural, flush.
Beauty Pie Longwear Cream Eyeshadow Stick
I’m REALLY lazy when it comes to eyeshadow. Often I’ll skip this step altogether – just because blending everything out seems like so much effort when I’m short on time. However, eyeshadow sticks have completely changed the game for me. They take all the difficulty out of creating a beautifully blended eyeshadow look.
You can use multiple shades to create dimension or stick with one shade as your all-over base colour. I’ve got the shade Beige Bombshell which I feel works for both daytime and nighttime wear. Simply swipe this onto your eyelids and diffuse it a little with your finger. That’s all there is to it!
Bobbi Brown do a similar long-wear cream shadow stick, as do Laura Mercier.
Glossier Stretch Concealer
If you’re looking for a creamy concealer that covers dark circles or redness in seconds, this is it. Glossier’s Stretch Concealer is buttery and buildable, but somehow still feels light and breathable on the skin. It has a dewy finish so it looks really natural, and it blends right into your skin, meaning you don’t have to spend ages making sure you don’t have an obvious concealer halo around any spots.
What I love about this formula is that it’s brightening and hydrating so it doesn’t highlight any textured areas or cause any creasing. This really does feel (and look) like skin when it’s on!
Saie Dew Blush
Liquid blushes are the ultimate lazy girl makeup product – they’re so easy to apply and often don’t require anything other than your fingers to blend them in. Of course, you can still use a brush or sponge if you want to though!
The Saie Dew Blush is great because it has a huge doe foot applicator which allows you to effortlessly dab the product onto your cheeks – just make sure you wipe off any excess before you apply!
This is really pigmented so you only need a small amount, and the dewy finish gives it a skin-like look. The Rare Beauty Soft Pinch Liquid Blushes are equally as good, if you’re not sure which to buy read my comparison here.
Rare Beauty Warm Wishes Effortless Bronzer Stick
Cream bronzers always sound like a good idea until you find yourself spending ages stood in front of the mirror trying to blend out any harsh lines. Fortunately, the Rare Beauty Bronzer Stick is so soft and buttery that it melts into your skin in a matter of seconds.
I recommend starting out with a light hand (a little goes a long way with this) and then build up the colour if you want more of a sun-kissed look.
This is a quick way to add some warmth to your face, especially if the foundation you’ve chosen is a bit too light. And I love that this doesn’t disturb the foundation underneath when you blend it out. If you want something a little more matte, Makeup by Mario does a fantastic Shaping Stick which I also highly recommend.
REFY Brow Sculpt*
Shape your brows in just a few strokes with REFY’s Brow Sculpt. This is a clear gel (well, it goes on white but is colourless when it dries) that sets hairs into place and give your eyebrows an almost laminated look. One end of the product is the applicator itself, the other end is a brush-comb duo that helps you properly disperse the gel and sculpt your brows.
As someone who hates spending more than five minutes on their brows, this definitely fits the lazy girl makeup brief for me. Because the gel is clear, you don’t really need to be that precise with it. And, since it sets pretty quickly, you don’t have to wait around for it to dry before you head out the door.
Dior Backstage Glow Face Palette in Universal
You might have seen that trend that TikTok trend where people talk about the products they’d instantly repurchase if their makeup bag suddenly disappeared – this is number one for me. Because it’s a multi-use palette, you can use it pretty much however you want. I wear the pink as a blush, the white as a highlight and the two gold/copper shades as eyeshadow.
The powders are fine so they never look too glittery once applied, making them perfect for everyday wear. I wouldn’t say they’re extremely pigmented, but that’s exactly what I like about them. They’re subtle yet buildable, so you can add as much shimmer as required.
Collection Filter Finish
Not only is this an amazing dupe for Charlotte Tilbury’s Flawless Filter, it’s also the perfect lazy girl makeup base. This is glowy without looking unnatural, and it sits so well under foundation. The formula is much more lightweight than Flawless Filter so it doesn’t feel as heavy on the skin. I also find that it doesn’t take as much effort to blend it out.
My favourite way to apply this is by dotting both Filter Finish and my chosen foundation all over my face, and then blending them out together. This means you don’t need to wait for one layer to dry down before applying the next!
Clarins Lip Comfort Oil
Depending on which shade you buy, this is basically a hydrator and lip tint in one. Obviously, you get that instant glossiness that you’d expect from any lip oil, but even when the shine wears off, the colour still remains. This is what makes the Clarins lip oils really stand out for me!
I also love these take mere seconds to apply – there’s no need to line your lips beforehand (unless you really want to!) as the oils impart quite a lot of colour anyway.
Honey is an un-tinted shade which doubles as an overnight moisturising mask. The other shades are much brighter and can only really been worn as makeup – though Clarins stresses that all of their lip oils have skincare benefits.
Which lazy girl makeup products do use in your routine? Are there any that you recommend? Let me know!
