Moisturisers are the product I’m least likely to switch up in my skincare routine. Once I find a moisturiser I love, it takes a lot for me to 1) stop using it and 2) try a different one.

My current everyday moisturising routine looks a bit like this: SKIN1004 Madagascar Centella Cream in the morning, and Purito Mighty Bamboo Panthenol Cream at night.

I have acne-prone skin and I’ve found these two moisturisers to work the best for me. They don’t clog my skin, cause any greasiness or produce any breakouts. It’s the small things!

They’re both lightweight, gel moisturisers which are still really hydrating – something that’s so important for me as my combination skin can often get really dry.

I’ve become so comfortable with (read, reliant on) these two products, that I’ve almost been scared to try anything else. What if I pick a new moisturiser that irritates my skin? Or worse, causes an acne flare-up?

Some of that cautiousness went away when I spotted Byoma’s new Hydrating Milky Moisturizer, though.

The formula and the finish looked good enough for me to take a leap of faith. Not that I would have had to jump that far, I usually feel in pretty good hands with Byoma!

Having already tried their Hydrating Milky Toner, I was expecting something similar, just maybe a bit thicker… and in moisturiser form.

So, how did it stack up?

In this post, I’ll break down the ingredients, the feel and finish, and just how it performed on my dry, acne-prone skin. If you’re interested, keep reading!

What is the Byoma Hydrating Milky Moisturizer?

Launched in October 2025, Byoma’s Hydrating Milky Moisturizer is a lightweight, gel-type moisturiser which offers intense hydration with a barely-there texture.

It’s packed with skin-loving ingredients, like Hyaluronic Acid and Centella Asiatica, which help fortify the skin’s moisture barrier.

The formula (in line with Byoma’s brand values) is completely vegan and cruelty-free. This moisturiser is also free from fragrance and alcohol.

Key ingredients

  • Barrier Lipid Complex – Byoma doesn’t explicitly break down what is in this complex, but I assume (from the ingredients list) it’s a mixture of Sphingolipids, fatty alcohols, and other skin-identical ingredients. This blend helps support the skin barrier and provide hydration.
  • Panthenol – Has hydrating and soothing properties. It helps to keep the skin soft and supple, while reducing irritation and redness.
  • Adenosine – Aids in skin barrier repair and helps improve skin firmness. A popular choice for anti-ageing skincare products!

Packaging

This comes in Byoma’s signature squared plastic packaging. It has a pump dispenser which works well for a moisturiser of this consistency.

I’ve mentioned this before, but Byoma’s packaging often feels quite bulky. I don’t tend to take the brand’s products on-the-go or travelling, just because they take up quite a bit of space.

I feel the same about this moisturiser. It’s one I’d keep on my skincare shelf, but I’d probably opt for something smaller and more portable if I wanted to take a moisturiser away with me.

Another thing that sticks out to me about this packaging is just how similar it looks to the existing Byoma Moisturizing Gel Cream. I actually thought they were the same product before I looked into it. I think it would be easy to pick up the wrong one!

Texture & finish

This, to me, feels like a Korean-style gel moisturiser. Western brands – especially if we’re looking at those in the drugstore range – often come out with thicker cream moisturisers.

This is very much a lightweight, almost lotion-like formula which spreads into the skin easily and sinks in really fast.

It has a slight tackiness to it, which makes sunscreen and makeup apply well on top. But I don’t find it to be sticky or greasy. I don’t get any pilling or makeup separation with this either.

Who is the Byoma Hydrating Milky Moisturizer most suited to?

Realistically, I think this moisturiser could work for all skin types.

It’s a perfect pick for sensitive skin as it doesn’t contain any fragrance or essential oils. It’s also great for acne-prone skin since it’s free from pore-clogging ingredients.

If your skin is super dry, you’ll definitely want to layer this moisturiser with a hydrating, milky toner as it may not be enough by itself. But for combination and oily skin types, this is a really nice lightweight option which hydrates the skin without making it look overly shiny.

Price & where you can buy it

It wasn’t until I was writing this post that I realised just how exclusive the Byoma Hydrating Milky Moisturizer is. It looks like you can only buy it from Space NK in the UK and Ulta in the US. It doesn’t even appear on the Byoma website at the moment!

Price-wise, this retails for £15 ($16.99) which is pretty standard for a Byoma moisturiser. It’s not the cheapest drugstore moisturiser on the market but it’s still pretty affordable.

Why you’ll love it (and why you might not)

pros

  • Lightweight, quick-absorbing formula
  • Soothes the skin and reduces redness
  • Fragrance-free and alcohol-free
  • Affordable price point

cons

  • May not be hydrating enough for very dry skin
  • Bulky packaging

Byoma Hydrating Milky Moisturizer Review: Is it worth buying?

After using this for the past few months, I’ve really fallen in love with the formula. Like my existing gel moisturiser favourites (SKIN1004 and Purito), this is very lightweight and breathable – perfect if you hate hate that thick, heavy cream feel.

It also has impressive moisturising power. I have dry-leaning combination skin and I find that this works brilliantly for me.

I tend to use this as my AM moisturiser, applying about two pumps before I go in with my sunscreen (not the Byoma one). I love that this holds up throughout the day. It keeps my skin hydrated so I don’t have that tight, uncomfortable feeling, or any dryness that breaks through my foundation.

It’s also not too dewy or oily. I might still need to use a bit of powder at the end of a long day, but that’s an easy fix and happens for me with most moisturisers.

The Hydrating Milky Moisturizer is the perfect partner to Byoma’s Hydrating Milky Toner. They layer well together and with skincare products from other brands.

If you’re looking for a budget-friendly moisturiser that’s suitable for acne-prone skin, I highly recommend this one. I’m now rotating it with the SKIN1004 Madagascar Centella Cream in my AM skincare routine – I like it that much!

Do you have your eye on this Byoma Hydrating Milky Moisturizer? Have you tried any of Byoma’s other moisturisers? I would love to know!
