Liquid products are ruling the makeup scene at the moment. From blushes to bronzers, highlighters to eyeshadows, the selection just keeps growing! Don’t get me wrong, I do love a good powder blush, but I’ve also been super excited to see that the number of liquid options has increased massively over the past year or so.
I had my eye on the Rare Beauty Soft Pinch Liquid Blush for quite a while, and when I spotted the Saie Dew Blush I knew that I wanted to give that one a try too! I picked up the Rare Beauty blush in the shade Hope and the Saie one in the shade Rosy.
So, are they worth the hype? Keep reading to find out!
Here is Battle of the Blushes liquid blush edition!
The shade range
Rare Beauty’s liquid blush shade range is almost twice the size of Saie’s, so if it’s variation you’re after Rare Beauty takes the top spot. The Rare Beauty blushes also differ in finish – some are dewy and some are matte – so this is also something to keep in mind when choosing between the two. The RB Soft Pinch Liquid Blush shades that are currently available are:
- Believe – This is a dewy mauve shade.
- Encourage – This is a dewy neutral pink shade.
- Hope – This is a dewy nude mauve shade.
- Joy – This is a dewy muted peach shade.
- Happy – This is a dewy true pink shade.
- Lucky – This is a dewy hot pink shade.
- Grateful – This is a dewy true red shade.
- Bliss – This is a matte nude pink shade.
- Love – This is a matte terracotta shade.
- Grace – This is a matte deep mauve shade.
- Faith – This is a matte deep berry shade.
The current Saie Dew Blush shades are:
- Peachy – This is a muted peach shade.
- Rosy – This is a coral-pink shade.
- Poppy – This is a deeper coral shade.
- Dreamy – This is a deep berry shade.
- Chilly – This is a mauvy pink shade.
- Spicy – This is a deep terracotta shade.
Chilly and Spicy are Saie’s newest shades and I’m hopeful that their shade selection will continue to expand in the future!
The formula
Because these are both dewy blushes, they sit on the skin in much the same way. They offer a really lovely, hydrated glow which makes your face look fresh and healthy. I also love that the dewiness helps add some dimension, especially since mattifying finishing powders tend to leave the face looking a bit flat.
Each one has a light, runny consistency which makes it feel almost weightless when applied. And despite the dewy finish, these aren’t sticky or wet.
Most importantly, the hydrating formula gives you sufficient time to blend the product out before it dries down.
The applicator
Both of these liquid blushes have a large doe foot applicator. However, there are subtle differences in the shape of each wand. The Rare Beauty one has a flat, circular tip which makes stamping the easiest method of application. I like this because I feel that it’s not too difficult to control how much product you’re applying. As long as you wipe the applicator against the neck of the bottle (to remove the excess), you’re going to end up with a small, round dot each time.
The Saie blush, on the other hand, has a long, angled applicator. This means that swiping the product across your cheeks works best. The wand also has a dip on the underside where product seems to pool. This does sometimes mean that you end up applying more product than you intended.
The best way that I’ve found to apply these – and this is a technique I learned through TikTok – is to dot the product to the back of your hand first. This way you can blend it out on your hand, coating the bristles of your brush and getting a lighter, more even finish when you come to apply it to your cheeks.
The pigment
If you’re new to liquid blushes, you may be shocked to see just how pigmented they are. Liquid blushes are definitely on a whole different level to powder or cream ones, and there’s a bit of a learning curve when you start using them. The sheer amount of pigment means that you only really need a tiny amount to get your desired intensity. It’s best to start light and then build up the colour!
Comparing the Rare Beauty and Saie blushes, I can’t say there’s a massive difference in pigment between the two. Both of these offer A LOT of colour and show up VERY vibrantly on the skin. If anything, I always end up blending furiously to try and diffuse the intensity a bit.
The wear
Liquid blushes tend to have an amazing wear time… and these are no exception. Both of these blushes last all day and, even with occasional mask use, I don’t find that the colour wears off that much. These do fade a little, but this actually makes the blush look more natural as the day goes on. They start off fairly intense, yet by the end of the day you just look like you have a natural wash of colour across your cheeks (at least this is my experience with these shades!).
The price
These liquid blushes are very similar in price, so it’s super hard to choose between the two. The Rare Beauty blush retails for £22 on Space NK, while the Saie blush is £20 on Cult Beauty.
If you’re looking for value for money, I would say Saie wins in this department. With the Saie blush you get 12ml (0.4oz) of product, compared to the 7.5ml (0.25oz) of product you get with Rare Beauty.
Since these are both so pigmented, and you only need to use a small amount each time, I feel like the Saie and Rare Beauty blushes will last me months anyway so this doesn’t really sway my decision. Of course, if you are looking to get more bang for your buck though, you might want to take this into consideration.
Final thoughts
Overall, I think these blushes have way more similarities than they do differences. Both have an impressive wear time and amazing pigment. They’re also very similarly priced too.
I found it really hard to decide on a favourite at the end of writing this post, so I think your final choice will probably come down to the shade selection. The Saie liquid blushes tend to be more peachy than the Rare Beauty ones, especially when it comes to the lighter shades.
Personally, I prefer more pink-toned blushes, so I do tend to wear the Rare Beauty one slightly more. I initially thought Rosy and Hope would be too similar but the undertone of each is completely different!
I really love both of these blushes and would definitely recommend giving each one a try if you get the chance.

Glossier Cloud Paint: One of the OG liquid blushes, Cloud Paint is a minimal makeup dream. The pigment is a little less intense than many other liquid blushes, so the finish is really light and natural.
