Choosing new beauty products is always tricky – especially if you’re fairly new to the world of skincare.
Maybe you’re overwhelmed by the options available, or maybe you’re just not sure what products would work best for your skin type/concerns.
There’s nothing worse than splashing out on a bunch of new products to then find out that what you bought is not exactly what you needed.
Enter Faace!
With their simple, straight-to-the-point products, choosing what’s best for your skin is SUPER easy.
I’ve been testing three of Faace’s bestsellers – the Sweaty Faace Mask, the Tired Faace Mask, and the Dirty Faace Cleanser – and here’s why you need this brand on your radar…
Who is Faace?
Faace is a British beauty brand that seeks to demystify skincare by offering simple, ‘say-what-you-see’ products.
This fuss-free approach helps people choose what’s right for their skin without having to scour the internet or read through lengthy ingredients lists. Just by looking at the packaging, the customer should be able to get an idea of what each product is about.
In fact, it’s the simplicity of both the naming and the packaging that makes Faace’s skincare offering so accessible. It does exactly what it says on the tin (or tube rather!!).
The iconic ‘Period Faace’ mask, for example, has been specially formulated to keep hormonal breakouts at bay, while their ‘Dull Faace’ cleanser is designed to brighten the skin.
If this sounds amazing already, just wait until you find out that all their products are vegan, cruelty-free and 100% naturally derived. Oh, and Faace are also fighting period poverty by partnering with Hey Girls and donating one pack of period products for every mask sold!
What does Faace currently have to offer?
At the moment Faace have four face masks: Sweaty, Tired, Period and Menopause. They also have two cleansers – Dull and Dirty.
The selection is quite limited but I also think this makes the shopping experience easier. You don’t have to scroll through pages and pages of products to find something that suits your needs.
Most of these products are available in bundles which gives you a serious discount (versus buying them separately). And, if you’re looking to try before you buy (well, before you buy the full size), you can also get the Sweaty, Tired and Period masks in 30ml travel-sized tubes.
🫧 Dirty Faace Cleanser
The Dirty Faace Cleanser is designed to refresh the skin without stripping it of its natural oils. Rose water, aloe vera and glycerin provide the moisture, while zinc combats breakouts and grapefruit seed oil targets dullness. It’s the perfect combination!
Despite containing essential oils, this gel cleanser is sufficiently gentle for my easily-irritated skin, so I feel like it would work for most skin types. The pH-balanced formula also means that it’s not going to cause any disruption to your skin’s acid mantle.
I’ve been using this both morning and night (it’s my second cleanser in the evening), and have really been enjoying it. It leaves my skin feeling super clean but never tight, dry or uncomfortable. This isn’t a foamy product, though it does lather enough to make you feel like you’re getting rid of SPF and left-over makeup.
Overall, this is a really nice formula and it certainly lives up to the claims. If you’re looking for a cleanser that’s gentle yet effective, give this one a try!
💤 Tired Faace Mask
For some reason, when I see the word ‘face mask’ my mind automatically jumps to the clay type. You know, the kind that you apply to your skin, then wash off (only after your skin feels so tight you’re unable to even open your mouth).
Faace’s masks are not like this at all! They’re designed to be comfortable and non-drying, and you can wear them for as long or little as you’d like!
The Tired Faace Mask, for example, has a gel-like texture which feels really light and cooling when applied. The mask itself is enriched with caffeine, lactic acid and vitamin C – all of which refresh and brighten the complexion. It also contains vegetable glycerin and rosehip oil which hydrate the skin and help maintain the moisture barrier.
I prefer to use this as an overnight treatment, but Faace also suggests using it as a 20 minute rinse-off booster. I’m not sure whether the results would be that noticeable after such a short period of time, but it definitely can’t hurt!
They also mention applying it in place of your primer – it does dry down pretty quickly so I could see how that would work. I haven’t tried this method yet, and I’d be interested to see how it would hold up with makeup applied over the top.
I’ve been using the Faace Tired Mask A LOT over the summer. It offer so much hydration without feeling so thick and rich that your skin feels smothered. And, to combat the hot weather, I’ve found that popping this mask in the fridge for a bit makes it feel extra soothing and refreshing when applied.
💧 Sweaty Faace Mask
The Sweaty Face Mask is the best accompaniment to any workout routine. It can be applied as a wash-off treatment before or after exercise to control oil and keep pores unclogged, or it can be used as a regular primer (just liked the Tired Mask).
A winning combination of argan oil, grapefruit, bergamot and patchouli, this mask is not only super nourishing, but great for fending off pesky breakouts too.
If you’re someone with oily skin, the initial appearance of the mask might put you off. However, it’s not actually as thick as it looks! The cream-like texture quickly rubs into a gel, so the mask applies like any other water-based gel moisturiser would. Plus, Faace specifically mentions that – due to its oil-regulating ingredients – this is a product that oily skin types would benefit from.
My combination skin loves this stuff and I’ve found it to come in so handy over this unusually hot summer. Sweat can often lead to oil buildup and other skin issues, but this mask proves that something can be done about it!
So, if you’re prone to post-workout breakouts, or you’re just looking to detox after a long gym session, you might want to give this one a try!
Overall thoughts
I’ve been on the lookout for more UK-based, ethical skincare brands to shop from, so I’m really glad that I was introduced to Faace when I was!
To be honest, it can often be really hard to cut through the marketing and find products that will actually work for your skin. That’s why I appreciate the simplicity and straightforwardness of Faace’s offering. It really is just a case of identifying your skin concern and choosing the corresponding mask or cleanser.
One thing that I would keep in mind though, is that these products are heavily scented and do contain essential oils. So, if that’s something that would potentially irritate your skin, or if you’re just not that keen on strong-smelling skincare, these might not be for you. Personally I haven’t noticed any issues, but in general my skin isn’t very sensitive to fragrance or essential oils.
I’ve been loving using all of these products, but if I had to pick a winner it would be the masks. When it comes to skincare, I tend to scrimp on cleansers and splurge on moisturisers or masks, as I always feel that you’re going to get more benefit from products that have time to sit on your skin.
As great as the cleanser is, I haven’t noticed any discernible difference in my skin in the time I’ve been using it. The masks, on the other hand, really feel like they’ve helped to keep my skin hydrated and breakout-free. I can definitely see the Tired Mask becoming a permanent fixture in my nighttime routine!
Where can I buy these Faace products?
You can buy all of these products straight from the Faace website. The Dirty Faace Cleanser retails for £26, while the Sweaty Faace Mask and Tired Faace Mask retail for £27 each.
