The Heimish All Clean Balm is well loved in not just the K-beauty world, but the skincare community in general. When you think of double cleansing this might be one of the first balms that comes to mind, it certainly helped popularise this method. But, as usual, I’m very behind on the trends and I actually hadn’t got round to trying this … that is until now!
Keep reading to find out what I thought of this cleansing balm and whether it really is worth the hype…
What is it?
The Heimish All Clean Balm is a balm cleanser that can be used as part of your nighttime skincare routine to remove makeup and excess sebum. It is paraben-free, hypoallergenic and contains no synthetic fragrance.
What are the standout ingredients?
Shea butter – A plant lipid that is used as an emollient. It has healing and anti-inflammatory properties.
Tea tree oil – An essential oil that is known to reduce redness and irritation. It’s often used to treat acne.
Tocopheryl acetate – A synthetic form of vitamin E. It protects the skin from free radicals and helps with wound healing.
This balm does contain a number of essential oils – like lavender, grapefruit and bergamot – which some people may find irritating. I was a little hesitant about trying it but I think, since it’s only briefly on the skin, it shouldn’t really cause any issues.

How should you use this product?
Take a small scoop of the product and dot it around your face. Massage the balm in circular motions to loosen makeup and then rinse with lukewarm water.
Go in with a water-based cleanser afterwards to ensure that all makeup residue and impurities have been removed.
How do I feel about?
THE SCENT
Since this contains essential oils, the scent is fairly strong. It smells floral and citrusy which personally I don’t find unpleasant. However, those who are sensitive to fragrance may not enjoy this product.
THE TEXTURE
The texture of this balm reminds me a lot of The Body Shop Camomile Cleansing Butter. It’s pretty firm in the pot, but once you start rubbing it into your face it softens almost immediately. It’s also similar in that it doesn’t leave your skin feeling sticky or tacky when you wash it off.
Heimish claims this product has a three step texture. The first step being a balm, the second step being an oil and the third step being a milk. The product definitely becomes more liquid-like when water is added, something that doesn’t really happen with the balm from The Body Shop.
THE PACKAGING
This balm comes in an opaque white 120ml pot, which is greater than the standard 100ml many other cleansing balms offer. It also has a flip top lid which makes it easy to access the product. Underneath this lid you’ll find a second seal and a spatula for scooping the balm.
This is one of the few cleansing balms I own that actually comes with its own spatula which I appreciate. It feels a lot more hygienic than constantly having to dip your fingers into the product.
Notes on sustainability
Ethical: All Heimish products are cruelty-free and this cleansing balm is completely vegan.
Environmental: I can’t find too much about Heimish’s environmental efforts. I do have concerns about the amount of plastic used to create this product – especially with the extra lid and spatula. However, these can both be recycled, so that’s a plus at least!
Overall thoughts
I’d been meaning to try out the Heimish All Clean Balm for ages so I was super excited to receive it in this Stylevana package!
Despite the essential oils, I didn’t find that it was irritating and it also didn’t make me breakout at all. It did a great job removing my makeup and I didn’t feel like I had to scrub too much to break down my mascara either.
In terms of texture and efficacy, as I mentioned above, this is really similar to The Body Shop Camomile Cleansing Butter. The main difference is the scent – this is a lot more citrusy! I also feel like I tend to wash them off differently. With The Body Shop one I always use a reusable cotton pad to wipe away the balm, just because I find it to be more efficient than using my hands and water. However, because the Heimish balm turns into a ‘milk’ when water is added, it washes off the face really easily (meaning facial rounds aren’t really needed). I don’t necessarily prefer one method over the other, it’s just something to consider if you do have a preference!
Overall, I’m really impressed by this balm – I hadn’t expected it to be so gentle! I will definitely be repurchasing this … as soon as I finish all the other cleansing balms I have opened atm!
