The Best Summer Sandals To Rock In 2021

Sunny days are few and far between here in the UK. But that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t prepare for when they do come! The weather looks to be improving again and, now lockdown restrictions have eased, we definitely need to make the most of it. Footwear might not be the first thing that springs to mind when you think about upgrading your summer wardrobe, but a good pair of shoes can make all the difference. So, here are some of my favourite sandals for summer 2021.

Espadrille Wedges

Everyone needs a good pair of summer wedges. They’re so versatile … and much comfier than traditional stiletto heels too. I recently picked up the New Look White Woven Ankle Tie Espadrille Wedges and I cannot stop wearing them!

I’ve spotted a similar green pair in Stradivarius that I’m also really tempted to buy. They’re currently on sale so, if this looks like a style you’d enjoy, make sure to rush over to the site before they sell out!

Colourful Mules

Mules were massive last year and their popularity certainly hasn’t faltered in 2021. This is the perfect shoe to elevate even the simplest of outfits. Seriously, all you need is a cute matching handbag and you’ll look like you’ve put in 10000x more effort than you actually have!

Chunky Strappy Sandals

Thick-soled shoes are absolutely winning this year! We saw chunky sandals come in a few years back, but this time it’s less about the all-black buckled look and more about velcro and contrasting colours instead.

Pair these Warehouse Chunky Sandals with a white blouse and some blue jeans for a casual daytime outfit. Or even style them with a cute midi dress to offset some of the bulkiness. There’s so much you can do with these shoes!

Braided Flats

How cute are these?! I want a pair in every colour!

These Stradivarius summer sandals would be the ideal shoe to slip on when you’re by the pool or at the beach. You can keep it classic with a beige or ecru pair, or liven up your summer look with a mint or pink set – whichever matches your outfit!

90s Padded Flip Flops

Usually I reserve flip flops for the beach, but a dressier padded pair might just make their way into my everyday wardrobe. I can imagine these being super comfortable and really breathable too. This is the perfect summer shoe really!

I love the white stitching on the pictured Dune flatforms – it really shows off the quality of the shoe. However, a £65 pair of flip flops might not fit everyone’s budget. So, for a few more affordable options be sure to check out these New Look and Monki alternatives too.

Buckled Sliders

Birkenstocks are a summer classic that reappear year after year. If you don’t own a pair, 2021 might just be the year to invest!

The classic black and brown two-strap sandals are perhaps the most popular. But why not add a pop of colour to your look by choosing a brighter option, like this bold green pair. Both are so cute!

Rope Flatforms

I’m obsessed with these Dune Flatform Sandals. The checkered rope adds a really nice bit of interest to an otherwise simple, black outfit and the cork sole is such a great touch too.

The best thing is that the rope isn’t placed in areas where you might be prone to rubbing or blistering. Instead you have a soft padded strap around the toes and ankle which can be adjusted to make the shoes more comfortable.
